Foster the City’s Mission!
The mission of Foster the City is to empower the Church to contend for vulnerable children and solve the crisis in foster care. They provide the support and resources that assist in raising up foster families and support friends so that people can foster stronger and longer. Over a span of 10 years they have had the privilege of working with over 300 churches and by God’s grace, have seen over 1,000 children placed in Christian homes! Foster the City believes that there is a church for every child. They’re convinced that this belief will eventually create a scenario where there is a waitlist of families, opposed to there being a waitlist of children hoping to be placed in a safe and loving home.
Here are some ways you can work with Foster the City!
Support Friends
Support Friends commit to care for the foster family for the length of the placement by doing two acts of service a month. These could include providing a meal, helping with childcare or doing yard work for the family. They are part of the frontline workers that offer much needed aid to children and families in foster care.
Advocate Role
Advocates lead the FTC ministry by training and orienting a team of Support Friends with much needed support and care. Their leadership keeps the church engaged and Pastors informed.
Foster Family
Foster parents temporarily provide a safe and loving home for children that have been removed from their family’s home. Foster families become a lifeline for children that require hope and healing. These families are also in a position to provide grace and support for the parents that are taking steps toward achieving reunification with their children.
